  1. The Definition of the Day of the Lord
    1. The Day of the Lord is the day to sum up and head up all things in the universe according to God's original thought, good pleasure, and will (Eph. 1:10; Rev. 4:11).
    2. The Day of the Lord is in the realm of the Spirit. By being "in spirit" we may enter into the sphere of the Lord's day and hear and see all the things that are revealed, and are according to God's original thought and will (Rev.
    3. The Day of the Lord includes the time of the Lord's coming (parousia), and ushers in the final judgments and the coming age of the kingdom (2 Thess. 2:1-8; Rev. 11:15).
    4. The main focus of the Day of the Lord is the centrality and supremacy of Christ. Enjoying the reality of Christ as our life today, will manifest itself in that day (2 Cor. 1:14; Phil. 1:6, 10; 2:16; Col. 3:3-4).
    5. The Day of the Lord is the bridge that connects God's original thought in eternity past with His ultimate consummation in eternity future. It judges and deals with all the frustrations produced by "man's day," including creation, Satan's fall, man's fall, and time (2 Pet. 3:3-13; Jude 6).
    6. When we taste the good word of God, we also taste the powers of the age to come. "The powers of the age to come" are matters related to the Day of the Lord. Indeed, 2 Pet. 3:18 speaks of "the day of the age." Thus, today in this age of "man's day" we can be in the reality of the Lord's day - the coming age (Heb. 6:5; 1 Cor. 4:3; Rev. 1:10).
